Our Work
At Malunga, we promote the construction of diverse and equitable societies, as well as a commitment to ethnic-racial justice as a pillar for forging a more just world.
Promote anti-racist actions towards global justice and celebrate the values, knowledge, and resistance of Black people and communities.
Inspired by the urgency to contribute to global struggles against the dehumanization and structural exclusion of Afro-descendant peoples, our mission articulates movements, knowledge, and strategies from Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and other territories, recognizing that anti-Black racism is a systemic phenomenon that manifests itself in policies, practices, and narratives, both historical and contemporary.
This commitment is expressed in:
- Global advocacy, aimed at transforming regulatory frameworks and public policies.
- Action-research, rooted in the experiences of Black communities.
- Education and memory, which dignify Afro-descendant lives, histories, and spiritualities.
- And the celebration of Black creativity, resilience, aesthetics, knowledge, and cultures, recognizing their profound and transformative value.
Malunga Governance
Our Structure, Composed of the Four Lines of Action and a Coordinating Committee
It seeks to reflect the principles of horizontality, diversity, and autonomy that guide the network’s actions, understanding our independence from any governmental, corporate, or partisan interests.
The Coordinating Committee is made up of the people who lead each of its lines of action: Making it Possible, Telling-US, Achieving Change, and Liberating Knowledge.
This committee guarantees the strategic articulation of the network, promotes collective decision-making, and ensures coherence between the network’s principles and the actions that are developed in the different territories and work fronts.

Malunga’s governance is based on collective construction, active participation, and recognition of the knowledge and leadership of our members.
Malunga Compass
Your guide to joining Malunga’s collective journey.
The Malunga Network is activated through its members in each country. They are the ones who can propose and develop activities or projects on behalf of the Network, as long as they have been consulted and/or previously approved by the Coordinating Committee.
According to its Declaration of Principles, Malunga promotes projects oriented towards racial, ethnic, social, gender, sexual, and ecological justice. Its actions focus on confronting anti-Black racism, anti-Haitian racism, and statelessness, always from a solid agenda committed to social transformation.
Malunga has initial funding granted by the Ford Foundation. However, it maintains full independence from governmental, corporate, or partisan interests. In addition to this support, the Network manages resources through alliances with other entities that contribute to its sustainability and strengthening.
