Within the framework of the colloquium “Fanon 100 years: revolution and emancipation in the Third World” in Chile, the renowned anthropologist and professor of Afro-Latin American Studies at Harvard University, Rudy Amanda Hurtado Garcés, warned about how racist narratives operate as dehumanization devices that legitimize structural violence. From an Afro-feminist perspective, Hurtado questioned the limits of institutional multiculturalism and vindicated insurgent forms of Afro citizenship.
